Welcome: The Town This Week
This week we experienced some beautiful weather! On Tuesday the sky was bright blue. On Grandfather Hill this picture was taken. The summer flowers are out and are giving the air a wonderful smell. Also the animals are out and are very active. It is almost matting season for many animals including the Kudu.
Featured Animal of the Day: The Kudu
The Kudu is a hooved animal related to the African antelope. The Kudu is split into two different groups; the Greater Kudu and the Lesser Kudu. They are gray-brown with small white stripes on their backs. For these stripes they are called “Gray Ghost”. The difference between male and female Kudu is that the males have tall spiraling horns and the females have no horns. One thing great about these animals are that they are very peaceful!
The Return:
Stephen Kumalo returned home today to the mission house with some family members. We are all very happy on his arrival and hopes he stays for a very long time. Kumalo is a priest at the mission house and helps many people with their problems and worries. We can always count on Kumalo!
The Good:
A man that we know very well now is Jarvis. He as been providing us with many things like nurturance for our children, good farming land, a new church, and even a dam so we have water to drink. Mr. Jarvis is so kind and generous that when he heard about our children here in Ndotsheni being sick and ill, he decided to do something. He realized that the children did not have enough milk, so every morning he as lugged his cart of milk down to our valley for the children and only the children to drink. In a similar way, Jarvis has ordered a dam to be built here in Ndotsheni. He has planned for the dam to be built soon. The river by his home will rush into the dam. We will be able to use this water in many ways including to drink and to water our crops with.
Jarvis will also help us rebuild Ndotsheni and make it better by teaching us better farm techniques. Jarvis has gotten this town a man by the name of Napoleon Letsitsi. Mr. Letsitsi will teach our people a better way to plough the land and how to treatr our animals. We are very hopeful that Mr. Letsitsi will do the right thing and help us.
The last thing Mr. Jarvis will do for our community is that he will build a new church for us. This was not his original idea, but his wife asked him to do it before she died. Stephen Kumalo, the preacher at our church, has said that the new church will be amazing. Kumalo is very excited for this new building. Mr. Jarvis is man that you need to know because he is shaping our community in a great way. We are very thankful to have him help us. him!
